Building Code Compliance Monitoring
MAREX Canada provides building Code compliance monitoring solutions
It’s important that customers of Marex Canada Limited, understand that it is the responsibility of property owners to ensure that the construction activities on their property meet the requirements of all of the construction codes. For the building trades, the Alberta Building Code (ABC) is a comprehensive code that contains general requirements that touch on all trades and disciplines and, specifically, is the code that governs life safety, health, structure, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC), which also includes hydronic heating systems.
The ABC sets out technical requirements for the design and construction of new buildings, as well as alterations, demolition, and change of use of existing buildings. There are five objectives that the ABC is designed to address:
- Safety
- Health
- Accessibility for persons with disabilities
- Fire and structural protection of buildings
- Environment
All of the requirements set out in the code will meet at least one or more of these objectives. When a safety codes officer has questions or concerns regarding code compliance, they are centered on these five objectives. Drawing reviews are required for all building permits.
